The Scoop on Sculpt + 4 Reasons to Try

What it is.

Strength tools used in class- range from 3-25 lbs.

In short, Yoga Sculpt is a hybrid class combining together traditional yoga postures and breath-work with resistance training and brief, high-intensity cardio called tabata. Different from a weightlifting session, this is not a class focused on “bulking”, rather it’s a fusion practice for anyone wishing to try something fresh, fun + a little more challenging.

Class layout follows a progression; body warming movement, heat building sun salutations, heart rate elevation with tabata, and an asana flow using dumbbells, weighted bars, bands, and bodyweight for added resistance. We close with some cooling postures and a sweet savasana.

Modifications (as always) are provided

I {Lindsay Silver} have been asked varying forms of the same question most often pertaining to intimidation on the intensity of class. The addition of weights in Sculpt is encouraged for the full experience, but always optional.

My teaching belief is that each practice done in community is truly yours alone. I am here to teach, guide, + support, but your body is the ultimate teacher and knows best what you need on any given day. I design this class with you, and this philosophy in mind.

Yoga Sculpt is not for “proving” anything. This class is for you to feel better and stronger in your body + more centered and grounded in your mind.

Curious why YOU should try?

The benefits of Yoga Sculpt are vast!

  • improved balance + coordination (think compound movements with added weight)
  • increased strength + flexibility (through the use various tools like dumbbells + weighted bars)
  • better bone + heart health (heard of tabata? It’s a high intensity cardio burst alternating work and rest)
  • enhanced confidence, mood + creativity (heavy, steady breathing boosts dopamine, shifting you from the frenetic energy of the season to more mental clarity)
  • have I mentioned it’s FUN?!

Additionally, and from an Ayurvedic perspective, better balance physically during this current windy season of change helps our mind create a rhythm and routine to the season.

We move our body to move our energy. You may feel a notable “pumped-up”, energetic rush at the end of class. But, as your day progresses toward closure, watch for the moments of stillness that surface.

Ready?
